Trip overview

Same river, same line, different boat. Our inflatable kayak - what paddlers call a “Ducky” - gives you the Weber River Henefer-to-Taggart-Falls run from a smaller, more responsive craft. You’re paddling yourself, but a guide is always with the group reading lines, calling moves, and stepping in when you want a hand.

We use Aire Tributary kayaks - stable enough for first-time paddlers, maneuverable enough to be fun in the rapids. Solo or tandem; either works for a relaxed day or a more focused paddle.

The route threads three landscapes - open farmland, the high-desert mountains around Devil’s Slide, and the technical Rock Garden leading to Taggart Falls, the Class II–III rapid that anchors the run. About 2 hours on the water depending on flows; the whole experience runs ~4 hours including the drive-to-launch from Park City (about 30–45 minutes), gear-up, run, and shuttle back.

What it’s like

The Weber doesn’t sit still. You’ll be working the boat from the start - dodging rocks, picking lines, occasionally weaving past tubers floating the same stretch. By the time you reach Taggart, you’ve put in the practice to handle it.

Spring snowmelt (May–early July) makes for higher, faster water and a more pushy paddle. Later summer the river drops and the run gets gentler.

Wildlife you might spot

Yellow-bellied marmots and ground squirrels along the banks. Cottonwood trees holding raptor nests - golden eagles, ospreys, red-tailed hawks. Mule deer and elk in the high meadows. Brown trout in the eddies if you’re paying attention.

This is a good fit for first-time paddlers who want a real river day, or for experienced paddlers who want to know the run before bringing their own boats.
